Mele Kalikimaka
Sure hope I spelled that correctly. I am copying it from the program from granddaughter's performance tonight. Five fourth grade classes put on their Christmas program in the school gym. It was called Meterologist Mayhem and featured songs and dances with localized flavor.
One class did a square dance to Christmastime in Texas while another did a black hat and cane line dance to White Christmas.
Granddaughter's class were led in a hula by one of their classmates (who looks to be from the islands) to the tune Mele Kalikimaka. Here's our own little island gal:
I think Paw-Paw and Gramma are going to have to bring her back a real taste of the islands in May. Don't you think? ;-)) They did a very nice job. The school's music teacher always gets such a great performance out of these kids. He loves his work - loves music - loves to sing it and to teach it. Couldn't ask for better, to my mind.
And, now I am going to sway my way to bed. 'Night all. Mele Kalikimaka . . .
