hmmmm
Well, I thought I might have some more Alaska pics to share that hadn't been shown, but I don't seem to find any.
So what are all of you doing on this Memorial Day? I got up early and walked for 3.5 miles and by the time I got home hubby was up, breakfasted, and out the door. Yes, small business owners work holidays, too.
Since then I have been doing a lot of computer work, paying some bills, and other catch-up type stuff. But, for the past hour or so I have been looking for a job - yup, on the look again. Still have the one, but it is getting to be time, I'm thinking. It has been a loooooooooonnnngggg year after the decreased hours and increased insurance costs of last July. This fiscal year, well, it doesn't look to be much brighter, I'm thinking. The joys of working in the non-profit world. Sigh!
So, two apps/resumes submitted electronically. You gotta love modern technology. Another is in envelope ready to be mailed tomorrow. And, a fourth is set to be delivered by hand on my way to work in the morning.
My heart is still with the mission of the place where I am currently working, but a gal has gotta be able to pay the light bill, ya know?
I suppose it is possible that funding may come in for a brighter fy2006, but nobody seems to be holding their breath over it, so I am not going to, either.
In the meantime, hubby and I continue to build our other business - the one for which I studied hard enough to pass the Insurance exam. ;-) Lord willing, job seeking will not be necessary in about 18 months or so.
Oh, a trip is looming in the near future! We are headed out of here June 13th - going to Hotlanta for a week and then on to Ohio for about 5 days. Convention in Atlanta, then visiting some of the backwoods kin of hubby's. Visiting my aunt and uncle and friends in Ohio.
It would be about par that one or more of the four jobs would contact me for an interview while I am out of state, huh? Let's hope they are understanding.
Okay, folks, I am outta here. You all enjoy the rest of this holiday weekend. Remember the troops, say a prayer for them all to come home safely.

Road Shots
Think it might be a holiday weekend????
Yup - Friday afternoon traffic coming home from Anchorage. Sigh.
behind me, too.
But the scenery was pretty cool - mid the rain drops
Sun shadows
Sun played peek-a-boo with the raindrops.
And, just for Bonnie:
(look below)
in the parking lot of wally-world:
That's one BAD p.t. cruiser!
Hope you all have a good weekend. Remember why we "celebrate" Memorial Day.

Worship-full
This is the view from the deck of the small log cabin that houses our fellowship of believers. We are currently meeting in a vacant home of one of our members while we wait for the Lord to lead us to our "home". Actually, that should probably read "His home."
We had been meeting in a Bed and Breakfast run by one of our members, but this is their busy time of the year. ;-) So we moved next door to their first home. I cannot believe they raised their six children in this home. It seems so tiny, well compared to the B&B.
At any rate - it is a lovely location right on the beaver pond. We are joined by birdsong at each meeting. When we sing, they sing. It is pretty cool. A couple of weeks ago our Sunday School class was interrupted momentarily by the moose that caught our attention as it wandered by looking for browse.
If only the mosquitos . . . . well, this IS Alaska after all. Gotta expect the mossies to join us.
Have a great weekend everyone!

Yet another
trip to Anchorage that is. Last Thursday I headed up again - back home on Friday. I will be going up again this coming Friday, but only a day trip this time - time for the 60,000 mile service on the car. Yup, wouldn't be quite so soon if it hadn't been for all of those trips to good old anchortown.
Now you might be wondering (then again, you might not) why all the trips. These last few have been made with a mission certain. One was for the weekend - a 16 hour pre-licensing course. The next was for the licensing exam. The third - made necessary by a poor showing on the second - was for the licensing exam.
Licensing????? Huh????
Well, these addled old brains tackled and completed a prelicensing course in Insurance - Life and Health.
The first exam netted ONE passing score - the Health portion of the exam. The second exam was necessary because I needed to pass all four sections! So, more studying and lots of prayer went into those next five days.
I am here to praise the Lord because of His mercy. Thursday I went back to Anchorage - and passed the other three portions - Life, Alaska Life and Alaska Health (those are the law portions - Alaska statutes, etc.). Did not do it on my own - this was all due to the Lord. He granted me the information I needed when I needed it.
So, I have been duly fingerprinted and the information has all been sent in for processing for my license. Yay!!
Down the road a little way . . . the securities licensing exam. No pre-licensing course available for this one, so good old pure study hall stuff. Ouch my graying locks.
So, there you have it friends - what the PurpleMoose has been up to - and the reason for the quietness.
But, to satisfy your Alaska hungry eyes:
Taken along the road on the way to Anchorage this last time.
And . . . . closer to home . . .
A shot of the evening sky viewing Mt. Redoubt across Cook Inlet.
'night everyone.

Kind of rubbing it in, don't you think?
erm . . . don't get the joke?
our last name is Waters - not much of a joke, I know - but his friend F will get the joke - and I guess that's what counts. ;-)

Happy Mother's Day!
Try to get them all to smile at the same time - or all look at the camera at the same time - ;-) My grandbabies. (Minus one who was away ;-( )
Here's a "key" to the above photo just in case you wondered who was whom.
Thanks for the breakfast fun, Ladybug and Lessa and crew.

early morning
Headed off to walk first thing Thursday morning . . . noticed a bit of a commotion next door - checked it out . . . grabbed my camers (but, of course!).
hey, you!!! you get away from her tulips!!!" I clapped my hands and yelled, but it didn't seem to do any good.
It kept nosing closer and closer . . . I thought to myself (Self!) he doesn't look too big - get a little closer. (Note to same self! WHAT? Are you STUPID??? That's a MOOSE, you knucklehead!
oh, boy . . . you brought your MAMA, didn't you?
humpf! Well, don't go away mad . . .
Hmmm - maybe I had just best get on to my exercise group, now.
yup - good choice.
Ahhh, the life and times in Small Town Alaska. Gotta love it.

Here I am
Came home from work early today - have been feeling punk lately. Head is full - lungs are full - ack! Nasty stuff, folks.
So, thought I would give you a few more pictures . . .
LOOK!!!
Green trees!!! What a difference a week will make - Wow!
On the way home from Anchorage - lots of waterfall action. The snow is melting on the mountain tops and it has to go somewhere . . . . lovely.
And, just a stone's throw down the highway . . .
okay, what in the world is she taking pictures of now????? Well . . .
They were waaaaayyyy up there. Visible to the nekkid eye and all that. But, with no close up lens, well, this is as good as it's gonna get. Another lady was taking pics at the same time and we both grinned and said - "tiny white dots in the picture." Yup, indeedy.
come on inside to see pics of today's visitors:
green grass!! And babies to play on it.
Peeking through the mesh . . .
And a great time was had by all. Thanks, kiddos.
